Comments:

After a brief stint at West Georgia College I married. I was 22 when I married Ken and we were married for 38 years before he passed away on November 27, 2012 with me by his side. We moved 16 times the first 13 years of marriage. Ken travelled extensively in Latin America and Spain for 15 years setting up distributorships for two different companies, so, as a result, I got to go to a lot of places that I otherwise might not have ever seen. We finally settled down in Marietta, GA until 2003 when we moved to Charleston, SC. Ken went to The Citadel and had always wanted to live in Charleston. We built a house on Johns Island (about 8 miles from the peninsula) in 2008 in the country with deer, herons, eagles, etc. and our Lab that loves to chase the deer. Both of my children graduated from UGA so I had to become a Bulldog fan (my Daddy went to Georgia Tech, so, not an easy thing). Our daughter got married in 2007. She and her husband moved here from Manhattan in 2009. They will be building on some property right next to mine this year, which I am thrilled about, and my precious grandchildren can just walk over to see me. My son moved from Jacksonville, FL to Washington D.C. in 2012. He is the Assistant Personal Security Advisor for the Chief of Naval Operations and loves his work. He comes to see me often and will be getting married in 2014. Both Kenny and my future daughter-in-law, Niki, want to get married in Charleston. They have chosen Summerall Chapel at the Citadel for the ceremony in honor of Ken. They will be having the reception at my house - Father of the Bride type tent - poolside. This past year has been so sad for all of us. Fortunately, Ken got to know Niki and knew that she and Kenny were going to marry and was so happy for him. I am so glad to have a joyful event to look forward to and to have laughter in this house again.

School Story:

School was fun, but I should have paid more attention to scholastics. I found out at either the 10th or 20th reunion that in the eighth grade Brian Henry and Doug Fredrickson tossed a coin to see who was going to ask me to the Christmas dance and the loser of the toss could ask me to the Valentine's dance. I guess I was the real winner because I went with Doug to the Christmas dance and Brian to the Valentine's dance. The other incident that stands out in my mind is Mr. Eigen trying to teach me to speak before the class without laughing. I could never get through a report without laughing until I cried. He decided to have me do roll call every morning. I don't think I ever got past the C's before he would take over. Most importantly, though, is that I met my two best life-long friends in highschool. You know who you are!
